Using the Later Post Builder, you can easily schedule all your social media posts. This article will show you how it’s done using app.later.com on desktop!
With the Post Builder, you can:
- Schedule for one or multiple social profiles within an Access Group
- Schedule posts for all social platforms supported by Later
- Schedule single media and Multi-Photo (carousel) posts
- Save posts as drafts to revisit later
- Make a duplicate of a post
Keep in mind that each social platform has its own requirements, so customization for each platform may be required.
Schedule Posts on Web
1. Choose Your Social Profile
In Later on the web, Choose the social profile you want to schedule for at the top of the Calendar.
2. Choose Your Media
From the Side Library, drag and drop the media for your post onto the Calendar.
You can select one image or video, or multiple media items at once by selecting the check marks on them, then dragging.
3. Add Your Caption
Write a caption for your post. Use a Saved Caption and Hashtag Suggestions to help, or write something new. If your media has a Media Note, this will be pulled into the caption automatically.
4. Customize Your Post
Now you’ll customize your post. You can:
- Adjust your publishing time
- Add filters and crops to images by selecting Edit Image
- Trim and crop video by selecting Edit Video
- Add Linkin.bio links (Instagram & TikTok only)
- Choose your publishing method (Instagram & TikTok only)
And for Instagram posts:
- Tag locations and users (when Auto Publishing on current paid plans)
- Schedule a First Comment (when Auto Publishing on current paid plans)
- Choose a video thumbnail (for Auto Publish posts)
Select Schedule Post and you’re done! Alternatively, select the down arrow next to the Schedule Post button > Save as Draft to save your post without scheduling it for publishing.
Copy Posts on Web
Want to duplicate an existing post? Here’s how:
- Select an existing scheduled or draft post on your Calendar
- In the Post Builder that opens, select Copy Post near the bottom left
Note: Instagram Stories can't be copied or created from copied posts. - Select the social profile you’d like to copy your post to
- You can only copy a post to one social profile at a time, and it must be in the same Access Group
- If a post is unavailable for certain platforms, the type of media may not be supported, or you may have reached your post limit
- Select Copy Post
- The copied post will open in a new Post Builder
- From here, you can make any adjustments as needed (for example, you may need to shorten the caption if the platform you’re copying to has a shorter character limit)
- When you’re ready, schedule (or publish) the post as normal!
- Alternatively, select the down arrow next to the Schedule Post button > Save as Draft to save your post as a draft and come back to it later
How Are Posts Published?
Tweets, Pins, Facebook, and LinkedIn posts will go live at their scheduled time. Nothing further needed from you.
Instagram and TikTok posts:
- Posts set to Auto Publish (available to Instagram business and creator profiles and TikTok accounts only) will be automatically published at their scheduled time, or you can publish manually through notification publishing if you prefer.
- Instagram personal profiles must use notification publishing. See how to publish posts using notification publishing
