Want to trim your video down? Need to crop your video for a specific social platform? This can be done directly in Later when scheduling your post. Here we’ll show you how.
Important:
- Editing a video for a post will not affect the original video in your Media Library
- Videos can’t be edited within the Media Library, only when being scheduled
- Thumbnail selection is available on paid plans for Instagram Auto Publish posts (not notification posts) and Pinterest posts only
- Filters and text-on-image are not available for videos
- Video editing is only available on the web (not available in the Later mobile app)
Crop a Video
- In Later on the web, create or open a video post
- Click Edit Video
- Choose your crop. Use a preset, or drag the dots on the edge of the crop to choose your own.
- Click Update video
Trim a Video
- In Later on the web, create or open video post
- Click Edit Video
- Click Trim
- Click and drag the start and stop playheads to trim the video
- Click the (play) button to review your video
- Click Update video
Select a Thumbnail (Instagram and Pinterest)
- In Later on the web, create or open an Instagram or Pinterest video post
- In the Post Builder click Select Cover
Note: Thumbnail selection is only available for Instagram videos set to Auto Publish, not notification publishing. See How to Enable Auto Publishing for Instagram if needed - Choose your thumbnail
- Click Update Cover
Note: If your video isn't 30 or 60fps, the thumbnail cover you select may not match when published. Use a 30 or 60fps video to ensure your selected thumbnail cover is accurate when published.
