Later takes security seriously. To protect your account and login information, we have security measures in place when you create an account or change your password.
Later’s Password Requirements
When choosing a password for Later, it must:
- Be at least 8 characters long
- Not be in the list of 1,000 most common passwords
- Not be exposed in a data breach on another app or website
If your password doesn’t meet the requirements above, you’ll be prompted to choose another password.
How Later Checks Password Requirements
When you set a new password, we check if it’s secure. To do this, we use a service that looks for passwords that have been exposed in data breaches on other apps or sites. If you enter a password that’s been exposed on another site, we’ll ask you to choose a different password. We also make sure the password you choose doesn’t appear on the list of 1,000 most common passwords.
How You Can Keep Your Information Safe
Rest assured — your password in Later is secure. But if you reuse the same email and password combination across multiple sites or apps, this can make your information more vulnerable in general. Here are some tips to keep your information safe.
Check if your passwords have been compromised
Want to see if your data has been exposed on other sites? Go to haveibeenpwned.com and enter your email to see if your data has been compromised in a data breach. If it has, you should change your passwords on those sites. Sign up for the Notify me service on haveibeenpwned.com to get email notifications when your data is compromised.
Don’t reuse passwords
When you sign up for a new site or service, don’t reuse a password that you’ve used before.
Use a password manager
Too many passwords to remember? Use a password manager like 1Password or LastPass to keep track of all of them.
