Overview
To post to your social profiles using Later, you must first authenticate them in your Later account. Authentication provides Later the permissions it needs to post on your behalf while complying to each platform’s rules.
This article explains how to add, remove, and transfer social profiles in Later.
Before you begin:
- You can only connect a social profile to one Later account at a time, within one Access Group & Social Set
- Your Later plan determines the number of social profiles you can manage per Later account.
Add a Social Profile
Desktop
- Ensure that you’re logged in to the correct social profile you want to add on your current browser window
- From app.later.com on desktop, navigate to the top bar above the calendar and select the plus icon next to an empty social profile
- Follow the login prompts to authenticate your profile
- Alternatively, go to Settings > Social Sets & Access Groups
- Click Edit next to the Access Group to which you want to add a profile
- Click Add Social Profile
- Click on an empty social profile slot in your current Social Set (or in a new one, if your plan includes more than one)
- Click Add Social Profile
- Follow the login prompts to authenticate your social profile
- If you’re already logged in to the social profile you want to add, you won’t have to log in again!

iOS supports Instagram profiles, TikTok profiles, and Facebook Pages. Android only supports Instagram profiles and Facebook Pages. Pinterest, and LinkedIn profiles must be removed using app.later.com on desktop
- From Later’s iOS or Android app, tap Account at the bottom right
- Tap Social Sets
- If you are using the iOS app, tap Connect next to an empty Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok slot
- If you are using the Android app, tap Connect next to an empty Instagram or Facebook slot
-
Follow the login prompts to authenticate your social profile
Important: If you see a CAPTCHA or identity confirmation screen when trying to authenticate your profile on iOS, please manually type in your login credentials instead of using autofill.
Individual Platform Requirements
For some platforms, you must meet certain requirements in order to be able to authenticate that profile with Later:
- Instagram: If you manage multiple accounts, log in with the exact username & password for the profile you want to add. See Troubleshooting steps below for more detailed instructions
- Facebook: To add a Facebook Page, you must be an admin of the page
- LinkedIn: To add a LinkedIn Page, you must be a super admin of the page
- TikTok & Pinterest: Basic login access to the profile you wish to add is the only requirement
Remove a Social Profile
Removing a social profile or Social Set from your account won't impact your Later plan or billing. Rather, it will free up that slot so you can add another in its place. If you’re currently paying for a Social Set you no longer need, see Managing Later Plan Add-ons: Social Sets & Users to learn how to remove it.

Transfer a Social Profile From Another Account
Transferring a profile is as often as simple as adding it to your Later account. If the profile is already connected to another Later account, you'll be asked to confirm the transfer. Select Transfer Profile to continue.
However, some social profiles can’t be transferred manually within Later. If you can’t add a profile because it’s connected to another account, try the following steps:
- If you know the owner of the Later account currently connected to the profile, ask them to remove that profile from their Later account, then try adding it again.
- If the above is not an option, please reach out to us via the Later Chatbot (accessible from app.later.com on desktop) after attempting to connect the social profile in your Later account. After a security check, we can manually disconnect it for you.
When transferring a social profile from another Later account, the data associated with that profile will be transferred as well. This includes:
- Scheduled posts
- Analytics data
- Link in Bio links
You cannot transfer Media Library items between Later accounts.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Why has the wrong profile been added to Later?
If you find the wrong account is being connected in Later, it’s possible your browser is automatically logging in using saved login info. To fix this issue, please try adding your profile through app.later.com on desktop following these steps:
- Open an Incognito/private browsing window, following the instructions for which browser you use:
- Navigate to app.later.com on the private browsing window
- Log in to your Later account
- Follow the steps to add your profile from within the private browsing window
- Make sure you log in using the exact username & password of the profile you want to add to Later
Once you’ve added your account, close the private browsing window. Your account will remain connected.
Why do I get a warning when removing a profile?
You can link social profiles to certain features such as Link in Bio pages and Later for creators. As a result, you may receive a warning notifying you of the impact removing that profile would have on other features you are using.
For example, if you try to remove a profile that currently has scheduled posts, you'll be warned these scheduled posts will not be published.
What happens when I transfer Link in Bio to another Later account?
If you transfer a social profile to another Later account, its associated Link in Bio page won’t be moved over automatically. Instead, you will have to create a new Link in Bio page.
You'll also need to redesign your page and set up a new username. Once you reconnect your social profile in your account, all previously linked posts will appear
How do I transfer Link in Bio to another Access Group within the same account?
- From app.later.com on desktop, select Link in Bio from the left-side menu
- Click the Settings tab on the right of the screen
- Go to Manage Linkin.bio Page Settings > Move Page to Another Access Group
- Move your social profile to another access group
To relink posts, go to the Blocks tab > Linked Social posts to reconnect
