In this Article:
Ownership of a Later Social account is managed through the account email address. To change or transfer ownership, you’ll need to change the account email address used for the Account Owner login.
Changing the account email address also changes the account admin, or Account Owner. The account email address is used to log in to Later and receive account notifications and transactional emails.
Before You Change the Account Owner Email
Before changing the Account Owner email, make sure:
- You can log in to the current Later Social account.
- The new email address is correct and accessible.
- The new email address is not already associated with another Later account as a user or admin.
- The new email address does not already belong to a user or admin on the account.
- The account is a Later Social account.
- The email address is not also tied to a Later Influence account.
Changing the Account Owner email does not remove users, delete scheduled posts, remove media, erase analytics, cancel billing, or disconnect social profiles.
Changing Your Account Email
- From Later on desktop, go to Settings > Account Settings
- Scroll to Personal Information & Security
-
Next to Email, select Change
-
Enter and confirm the new account email address
Note: You must enter an email address that isn’t already connected to any Later account as a user or admin. This email address will become the Account Owner login after the change. - Select Change Email
After changing the email address, you’ll be logged out of Later. The new Account Owner can then log in using the updated account email address.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make an existing user the Account Owner?
Not directly. This process does not transfer ownership to an existing user profile. To change the Account Owner, you need to change the account email address to an eligible email address.
The new Account Owner email can’t already belong to a user or admin on the account, and it can’t already be associated with another Later account.
Can I transfer ownership from the Users page?
No. The Users page is for adding, removing, and managing users. Account ownership is managed through the account email address, not through Users settings.
What happens to scheduled posts, media, analytics, billing, and social profiles?
Changing the account email address changes the Account Owner login. It does not automatically delete, remove, or reset the account’s scheduled posts, media, analytics, billing information, users, Access Groups, or connected social profiles.
What if the new owner’s email already has a Later account?
Each email address can only be associated with one Later account. If the new owner’s email address is already associated with another Later account as a user or admin, you’ll need to use a different eligible email address.
What if I can’t access the current owner email?
