Troubleshooting
To enable certain Later features for Instagram (Auto Publish, Conversations, and some Collect Media features), your Instagram profile must be connected to a Facebook page that you have admin access to. This is a requirement set by Instagram.
Not sure if your Instagram and Facebook Page are properly connected, or need to connect these now? This article will help.
How to Check the Current Connection
- Log in to Facebook and go to the Facebook Page you’d like connected to your Instagram profile
- Go to Settings > Instagram
- Check that the Page is connected to your Instagram business profile
If the correct Instagram profile is connected, you can enable your Later features now.
If the wrong Instagram profile is connected, click Disconnect at the bottom of the Instagram section in Facebook. Then follow the step below to connect a Page.
How to Connect Your Facebook Page and Instagram
Important: You must be an admin of the Facebook Page to do this properly.
Note: If you don’t have a Facebook Page, check out this Facebook article on how to set one up from your Instagram app. When creating a new Page as outlined in the article, the steps below will not be needed.
Step 1 - Connect Instagram within Facebook
- Log in to Facebook and go to the Facebook Page you’d like connected to your Instagram profile
- Go to Settings > Instagram
- Click Connect Account
- In the pop-up, log into the correct Instagram profile
- If your Instagram is not already a business profile, you’ll be prompted to make that switch now. This is required for Auto Publishing.
Step 2 - Check the connection status in Instagram
- In the Instagram app, head into your profile
- Tap Edit Profile
- Under Profile Information, check the Page section to see the connected Page
If no error is shown, you’re properly connected and can enable all of Later’s features now!
Troubleshooting
There are a few common error messages you may run into when connecting your Page and Instagram profile. These usually indicate that the Page you’re connecting to Instagram is owned by a Facebook Business Manager account that you do not have admin access to. While the Page and Instagram profile are connected, the connection needs to be confirmed by a Business Manager admin.

If you’re seeing any of these, ask the Page owner to confirm the connection for you. Here’s how they can do this:
- In this Instagram app, head into the profile
- Tap Edit Profile
- In the Page section, click the Confirm icon
- Log into the Facebook Business manager admin account and follow the prompts
Alternative solution:
Create and connect a new Facebook Page where you’ll have full admin rights by default. This Instagram article can show you how. Tip: Give your new Page a unique name so it can be easily identified from the original.
Once done, you should have no issue setting up all of Later’s features.
