Connecting your Instagram profile to a Facebook Page unlocks Facebook-dependent Instagram features in Later, including Social Inbox, hashtag search, and some analytics features.
This article explains how to connect your Instagram profile to a Facebook Page, check an existing connection, and fix common connection issues.
If you're whether you need a Facebook Page or which features require one, see Why Does Later Ask Me to Connect Instagram to a Facebook Page? to learn more.
Connection Requirements
You’ll need:
- An Instagram business or creator profile. Personal profiles can’t be connected to Facebook Pages, and Later no longer supports personal Instagram profile connections. See Instagram Profile Types & How to Switch.
- A Facebook Page that you have Facebook access with full control to. See About Facebook Page Access and Roles.
Create a Facebook Page
If you don’t already have a Facebook Page, create one before continuing. See How to Create a Facebook Page.
Check the Current Connection
If you already have a Facebook Page, check whether an Instagram profile is already connected before creating a new connection.
- Log in to Facebook
- Select your profile picture, then select See all profiles > See all Pages
- Under Pages you manage, select the Page you want to use
- Select Switch so you’re acting as the Page (if you don’t see Switch, you’re likely already acting as the Page)
- Select Settings
- Under Permissions, select Linked Accounts
- Next to Instagram, select View
If the correct Instagram profile is connected, you’re all set.
If a different Instagram profile is connected:
- Select View
- Select Disconnect account
- Select Yes, disconnect
- Continue with the steps below

Troubleshooting
The Facebook Pop-Up Doesn’t Appear
A browser setting or extension may be blocking the sign-in window.
Try the following:
- Enable pop-ups for the page and refresh.
- Temporarily disable browser extensions.
- Try again in an Incognito or private browsing window.
After changing any browser settings, refresh the page before retrying.
Error: You Can’t Select This Profile Because You’re Not an Admin
You don’t have the required Facebook permissions. To connect an Instagram profile, you need Facebook access with full control for the Page.
See About Facebook Page Access and Roles.
Error: Page Already Belongs to a Business
The Facebook Page is managed through Meta Business Manager. Ask the Page owner to complete the connection through Instagram, or connect through Facebook if you have the necessary permissions.
I Can’t Access Linked Accounts
You likely don’t have the required Facebook permissions. To manage Instagram connections, you need Facebook access with full control for the Page.
See About Facebook Page Access and Roles.
Instagram Is Asking Me to Log Into Someone Else’s Facebook Account
Another person currently manages that Instagram profile through Accounts Center. If you have access to the Facebook Page, connect through Facebook instead of Instagram.
Error: Page Is Already Connected to Another Instagram Account
A Facebook Page can only be connected to one Instagram profile at a time. Follow the steps in Check the Current Connection to see which Instagram profile is connected, then disconnect it before connecting a different one.
I See an Orange Confirm Icon in Instagram
The Facebook Page owner may need to approve the connection.
In Instagram:
- Tap your profile picture.
- Select Edit Profile.
- In the Page section, tap the orange Confirm icon.
- Complete the prompts and sign in to Business Manager if requested.
If you don’t own the Page, ask the Page owner to complete these steps.
