    Schedule and Publish Text Posts Without Media With Later

    In this Article:

    Schedule text posts (posts that don’t include images or videos) to Facebook or LinkedIn through Later. We’ll automatically publish your posts at their scheduled time so you can plan your content in advance and save time publishing. 

    Important:

    • Text posts are available on all of Later’s pricing plans, including Free
    • You can’t schedule text posts to Instagram, Pinterest, or TikTok
    • You can't tag people when scheduling Facebook or LinkedIn posts
    • Facebook captions can be up to 63206 characters
    • LinkedIn captions can be up to 3000 characters 
      • Due to API limitations, LinkedIn posts containing URLs will not generate preview images

    Schedule a Text Post

    Desktop

    1. Go to your Calendar in Later on the web
    2. Select the profile(s) you want to schedule to (text posts are supported by Facebook and LinkedIn)
    3. Drag and drop the Create Post box onto your Calendar from the left sidebar
    4. Set the date and time you want the post to go out
    5. Write your text post (up to 63206 characters for Facebook and 3000 for LinkedIn)
      • If you selected multiple profiles, click Customize Posts to customize the text for each profile
    6. Click Schedule Post
      • Alternatively, click the down arrow next to the Schedule Post button > Save as Draft to save your post as a draft and come back to it later

    iOS

    1. Go to the Schedule tab in the Later iOS app
    2. Tap the create-post button in the bottom right
    3. Select the profile(s) you want to schedule to (text posts are supported by Facebook and LinkedIn), then tap Done
      Note: If you select multiple profiles, you'll have the opportunity to customize the text for each profile
    4. Write your text post (up to 63206 characters for Facebook and 3000 for LinkedIn)
      • If you selected multiple profiles, tap Next to customize the next profile's post
    5. Tap Change next to where it says No Time Selected
    6. Select a date and time for publishing, or tap Now under Select a Time to publish now
    7. Tap Save
    8. Tap Schedule Post
      • Alternatively, tap Save as Draft to save your post as a draft and come back to it later

    Android

    1. Go to the Schedule tab in the Later Android app
    2. Tap the create-post button in the bottom right
    3. Select the profile you want to schedule to (text posts are supported by Facebook and LinkedIn)
      Note: Multi-Profile scheduling is not currently available on Android
    4. Write your text post (up to 63206 characters for Facebook and 3000 for LinkedIn)
    5. Tap Change and select a date and time for publishing
    6. Tap Schedule Post
      • Alternatively, tap Save as Draft to save your post as a draft and come back to it later

    We’ll automatically publish your text post to your selected profile(s) at your scheduled time. 

    Tip: If you change your mind and want to schedule a post with media, edit the scheduled post and click Add Media.
