Later’s Upload Limits
This section will cover the size limits and format requirements to be aware of when uploading media to Later.

Our media storage limits are based on your plan, as follows:

Note: In addition, your Internet upload speed should be at least 10Mbps or faster to upload videos to Later. Here’s a free online tool to measure your upload speed!

* May be compressed by social media platforms. To avoid compression, keep videos under 100 MB and photos under 8 MB with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080.
Uploading Photos & Videos
Now that we’ve covered Later’s upload limits & requirements, let’s go over exactly how to upload your photos and videos to Later from a variety of sources.
Don’t worry about uploading too much content—photos & videos don’t count towards your post count limit until you’ve scheduled your post.
From Computer
- Through app.later.com on desktop, go to your Calendar page or Media Library page
- Click Upload Media (near the top left of the screen on either page)
- Select your file(s) from your computer

You’ll see a green confirmation banner when your upload is complete
- Don’t worry about waiting around for your uploads to complete! You can continue to work in Later while your media processes
Alternatively, you can drag your media item(s) directly into your Media Library (or Side Library on the Calendar page).
From Phone or Tablet
- From Later’s iOS or Android app, tap Media in the lower-left corner
- Tap the blue plus sign symbol (+) in the lower-right corner
- Choose whether you’d like to take a new photo/video or select from your Photo Library
- Select your media item(s)
- Tap Add (iOS) or Open (Android)
From Dropbox
- Through app.later.com on desktop, go to your Calendar page or Media Library page

Click the Dropbox logo next to Upload Media:

Sign in to your account if needed
- If you are logged in to the wrong account, you’ll need to log out and then log in to the correct one before uploading to Later
- Select the media item(s) you want to upload
- Click Choose
Social Platform Media Requirements
Each social platform has its own set of media and size requirements, in addition to Later’s own requirements outlined above.
Below are the media requirements for each of our supported social platforms.

Note: Instagram doesn’t support ProPhoto RGB, the standard color profile in Photoshop and Lightroom. Using it could result in washed out images when published.

Tip: The recommended aspect ratio for feed videos is 4:5. Reels must be 9:16.

We get it—all these numbers can be a bit overwhelming. Luckily, there’s an easy way to check your media item’s size and resolution directly within Later on the web.
- On app.later.com on desktop, go to your Media Library

In the top right corner, click on the list view icon:
That’s it! Now the Size column will display the file size & resolution of each media item, and the Name column will display the file type (at the end of your media item’s name, like .jpg):
You can always click the grid view icon to switch back after you’ve checked this data.
