Access Groups allow you to manage which users have access to certain data and content within one Later account. Each Access Group has its own Media Library, social profiles, and user access, so they're a great way to manage different brands or clients within Later.
This article covers how to create Access Groups, add and remove users from them, and transfer social profiles and/or media items between them.
Important:
-
Growth plans and higher include unlimited Access Groups, each with their own Media Library
- Free and Starter plans include 1 Access Group and 1 Media Library
- Only the Later account owner can create Access Groups (not users)
- Media items are attached to an Access Group, not a social profile
- This means when transferring social profiles between Access Groups, only the posts will transfer, not the media items
- You can also transfer media items between Access Groups separately
- Each Access Group can contain one or more Social Sets
- The amount of Social Sets you can create depends on your plan
- Social profiles and Social Sets within an Access Group can be linked to other features on the platform (for example, campaigns), and moving them can affect those features
- If the social profile or Social Set you're trying to move will impact another feature, you'll be shown a warning advising you of what will occur so you can decide whether to proceed or leave it as-is
Create Access Groups
You can create new Access Groups in your account as follows:
- From Later on the web, select Settings > Social Sets & Access Groups (or click here)
- Select Create New Access Group
- Give the Access Group a name
- This will be visible to the users invited to it
- Select Create Access Group
Add Social Profiles to Access Groups
Once you've created an Access Group, you can either add a new social profile to it or transfer an existing profile in your account to it.
The profiles will be contained in a Social Set within your Access Group. Each Social Set can contain one of each profile type, but Access Groups can contain multiple Social Sets. Learn more
Add a New Social Profile
You can add a new social profile (that is, one that's not already connected to your Later account) to your Access Group as following:
- From Later on the web, select Settings > Social Sets & Access Groups (or click here)
- Next to the Access Group you’d like to add the social profile to, select Edit
- Select Add Social Profile
- Select an empty social profile slot
- Each Social Set can contain one of each profile type, but Access Groups can contain multiple Social Sets. Learn more
- Select Add Social Profile
Important: At this stage, confirm you’re not already logged in to a different profile on the social platform that you’re trying to connect. If you are, Later will try to connect to that account automatically. Alternatively, attempt the connection from an Incognito/private browsing window—this ensures you’ll be prompted to log in to the profile you want to add. - Follow the prompts to authenticate that profile with Later
- If you’re not seeing the pop-up from the social platform to authenticate, disable any pop-up blockers or browser extensions that might be blocking it (or, try from an Incognito/private browsing window)
For more details, see Add, Remove & Transfer Social Profiles in Later →
Transfer an Existing Social Profile

- Next to the Access Group you’d like to add the social profile to, select Edit
- Select Add Social Profile
- Under Organize Social Profiles, select Organize
- Drag and drop your social profiles between different Access Groups
- You can also drag an entire Social Set to a different Access Group via the the four-way arrow symbol (✥) to its left
- Review the confirmation message and select Move to confirm
- Select Save Changes
Add Users to Access Groups
Before you can add a user to an Access Group, you need to invite them to your Later account. After they've accepted the invitation, you can add them to Access Group(s) as follows:
- Go to Settings > Social Sets & Access Groups (or click here)
- Select Edit next to the relevant Access Group
- Select the Users tab
- Select Add User
- Select Add beside the name of the user you’d like to add to this Access Group
- If you don’t see the user you want to add listed here, confirm they’ve accepted their invitation to your Later account
At this stage, you can also remove them from your default Access Group if you don't want them to have access to it. Newly-invited users will automatically have access to your default Access Group otherwise.
Remove Users From Access Groups
You can remove a user from an Access Group as follows:
- From Later on the web, select Settings > Social Sets & Access Groups (or click here)
- Next to the Access Group you'd like to remove a user from, select Edit
