This article covers what credits are used for, how many your plan comes with, and how to purchase more as an add-on to your Later plan.
Important:
- Add-on credits are available for current paid plans
- Free plan users do not have access to credits
- Credits for all of Later’s AI features come from the same pool
- You can’t use Later’s AI features if you don’t have any credits remaining
- Plan add-ons, including credits, are not available to users who signed up for their Later plan through the iOS app
- Sign up for your plan through desktop to access add-ons
What are credits used for?
Credits are used to power Later’s AI features. Currently, the features that use credits are:
- Ideas: 1 credit per 3 generated ideas. Learn more about Ideas
- Caption Writer: 1 credit per generated caption. Learn more about Caption Writer
You get a certain number of credits per month based on your plan, but you have the option to purchase more as a recurring add-on.
How many credits does my plan come with?
Current paid plans come with the following amount of credits per month:
- Starter: 5 credits
- Growth: 30 credits
- Advanced: 50 credits
- Agency/Scale: 100 credits
Credits reset on the 1st of every month at midnight UTC, regardless of your subscription renewal date.
How much do additional credits cost?
You can purchase more credits as a recurring add-on. At this time, add-on credits are available for purchase in the following increments:

How can I get more credits?
You can purchase more credits as a plan add-on at any time. They’ll be added to your account right away. The first time you purchase add-on credits, the number of credits and price will be prorated based on the amount of time remaining in the current billing period.
- From app.later.com on desktop, click Settings from the left sidebar
- Click Manage Credits
- Use the + icon to add extra credits
- At this time credits are purchasable in increments of 100
- Click Update Plan
You can also upgrade your plan to get more base credits per month. If you upgrade your plan, the credits you’ve already used this month will count toward the credits on your new plan.
How can I remove credits?
If you no longer require extra credits on a recurring basis, you can remove the add-on at any time. You will still receive the base amount of credits that come with your plan each month.
The add-on credits won’t be removed until the end of your current billing period.
- From app.later.com on desktop, click Settings from the left sidebar
- Click Manage Credits
- Use the - icon to remove extra credits
- Click Update Plan
