Wondering if your social profile is properly connected to Later? Not sure what the current status of your profile means? This article will break down the different connected statuses a profile can be in, and how to fix it if needed.
Find Your Profile's Connection Status
Here's how to find the current connection status of a social profile:
- From app.later.com, select Settings > Social Sets & Access Groups (or click here)

Select Edit next to the Access Group containing the profile you want to check:

Scroll down to the table displaying the social profiles in that Social Set
- In the Status column, you’ll see each profile’s current connection status
Here's an example:
Understanding Statuses
The social profile status shows if a social profile is connected fully, partially, or not at all. If it’s not fully connected, you’ll need to take steps to fix the connection. If not, some Later features might not work.
Below are the statuses a profile can be in, what they mean, and the how to fix them if needed.
Connected
This shows that the social profile is properly connected to Later! No further action is needed. 🎉
Expired: Refresh Profile
This shows that the social profile connection has expired, and needs to be refreshed.
To keep your accounts secure, your social profiles' connection to Later will sometimes expire and require re-authentication. For more details, see Why Is My Connection Expired? →

Connected: Enable Auto Publish
This shows that an Instagram business or creator profile is connected, but Auto Publish hasn't been enabled yet.

Connected: Enable Permissions
This shows that the Instagram profile is connected, but not all required permissions have been granted. In this state, some Instagram-related features might not work in Later.
Follow these steps to enable permissions:
- Select Enable Permissions

In the pop-up, log into Facebook (if prompted)
- If you don't see the pop-up, try disabling any pop-up blockers or browser extensions, or try from an Incognito/private browsing window
- Select Choose what you allow
- Expand all sections and ensure all options are selected
- Select OK

Connection Expiring Soon: Refresh Profile
This means that your profile is connected, but the connection is going to expire soon. For details, see Why Is My Connection Expired? →
Follow these steps to proactively refresh the connection:
- Select Refresh

In the pop-up, log into Facebook (if prompted)
- If you don't see the pop-up, try disabling any pop-up blockers or browser extensions, or try from an Incognito/private browsing window
- Authenticate Later again to refresh the connection
Proactively refreshing your profiles before they expire helps prevent any service interruptions.
