2-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your Later account. When you enable it, you’ll have to enter an authentication code every time you log in to Later.
How to Enable 2-Factor Authentication
- In Later on the web, go to Account > Settings
- Under Security, select Enable next to 2-Factor Authentication
- Make sure you have an authenticator app on your phone. If you don’t have one, download the Google Authenticator app
- Click Set Up
- Open your authenticator app and use it to scan the QR code shown in Later.
- A 6-digit number will show up in your authenticator app
- Enter this 6-digit number into the Authentication Code field in Later
- Click Confirm to complete setup
Important: After you set up 2-factor authentication, you get a list of backup codes. Save these codes to a safe place, so you can use them to log in to Later when you don’t have your phone. Each backup code can only be used once.
Tip: Save your backup codes to a safe place like a password-protected document, so you’ll have access them when you’re using Later on the web.
How to Disable 2-Factor Authentication
- In Later on the web, go to Account > Settings
- Under Security, select Disable next to 2-Factor Authentication
After you turn off 2-factor authentication, you’ll no longer have to enter an authentication code when you log in to Later on web.
Note: If you want to re-enable 2-factor authentication, you’ll have to go through all the steps to enable it again.
How to Log in with 2-Factor Authentication
- On the login page, enter your email and password
- Click Log In
- Open your authenticator app and look for app.later.com
- In the Authentication Code field in Later, enter the 6-digit code shown in the authenticator app
