Learn how to set up Later Pay, choose your payment method and currency, and receive campaign payments from brands in Later Social.
What is Later Pay
Later Pay is how brands pay you cash for campaign work you do through Later Social. You set up your payment details once. After that, when a brand pays you for a campaign, the money goes straight to the account you chose.
With Later Pay you can:
- Choose how you're paid: bank transfer, wire, PayPal or cheque, depending on your country.
- Choose the currency you're paid in.
- Submit your tax form once, as part of setup.
This guide covers campaign payments from brands in Later Social.
If you earn from sales in the Later Creator app, those payouts follow the Later Creator pay schedule.
See Setting Up Your Payment Profile and Earning with Later Creator.
If you use both, you can use the same payment profile for both. See Already set up payments in Later Creator? below.
Setting up Later Pay
Once you set up Later Pay in Later Social, every campaign you're paid for through Later Pay then uses the same details.
-
When a brand adds a Later Pay payment to your campaign, you'll get an email asking you to set up your payment information (you can also start from the campaign in Later Social)
- When prompted, enter a phone number for two-factor authentication
- Enter the email address you’d like payments to be sent to
-
Complete your payment profile:
- Address: Choose Individual, or Company if you're paid through a business such as an LLC. Enter your legal name exactly as it appears on your government ID and tax documents.
-
Payment method: Choose how and in what currency you want to be paid. The name on the account should match your bank statement.
Note: Later covers the fees for some payment methods. Review the table in Payments methods, currencies, and fees for any fees associated with your selected payment method. - Tax form: US creators complete a W-9. Creators outside the US complete a W-8BEN, or a W-8BEN-E for a company.
Once your profile is complete and verified, your status shows as Connected and brands can pay you. The steps match the Later Creator app.
For screenshots and tips on Individual vs Company profiles, see Setting Up Your Payment Profile.
Already set up payments in Later Creator?
If you already have a payment profile in the Later Creator app, you can link it to Later Pay instead of creating a new one:
- Start Later Pay setup from your campaign in Later Social
- Enter the same email address you use for your Later Creator payment profile
- Enter the 6-digit verification code sent to that email
Your existing payment method and tax form are then used for Later Pay campaign payments too. Linking only works from Later Social, not from the Later Creator app.
If you change your payment details later, the change applies to both.
Payout methods, currencies and fees
Which payout methods you can choose depends on your country. You'll see your options during setup.
| Method | Typical arrival after payment is sent | Fee |
| Direct deposit / ACH (US) | About 1 business day | Free |
| Local bank transfer (outside the US) | Varies by country | Free |
| Wire transfer | Usually same day | Shown when you choose it |
| PayPal | Varies | Shown when you choose it |
| Cheque | Longest, varies | Shown when you choose it |
Currency: Brands pay in the campaign’s currency, typically USD. If you choose a different payout currency, your payment will be converted and a currency conversion fee will be deducted from the amount you receive. To avoid this fee, select the campaign’s currency when available. Any applicable conversion fee is shown when you select your payment method during setup.
When you get paid
You're paid when the brand sends your payment, not on a fixed pay schedule. Each brand sets when in the campaign that happens: before you create content, or after it's approved.
- The brand sends payment. Payments go out in a daily batch at 6pm Pacific.
- The payment is on its way. How long it takes depends on your payout method (see the table above).
- You're paid. We'll email you when your payment has been processed.
If you think a payment is late, first check that your Later Pay setup is complete. Then contact the brand or email campaign.help@later.com with the campaign name.
Taxes
You submit your tax form once, during setup, and it's used for every Later Pay payment.
- US creators: W-9. Eligible US creators receive a 1099 after year end. We'll email you when tax forms are available.
- Creators outside the US: W-8BEN, or W-8BEN-E for a company.
- Keep it current. If your name, address or business details change, update your tax form. You can't be paid until a missing or outdated form is fixed.
For more on 1099s, see 1099 Reporting and Tax Policy for Creators.
For talent managers: one Later Pay account for multiple creators
If you manage creators, they can all be paid to your agency's Later Pay account. You set it up once, then each creator links to it.
Step 1: Set up your agency's account (once)
- Have your first creator start Later Pay setup from their campaign in Later Social
- Enter your agency's email address, for example finance@youragency.com, not the creator's
- Complete the payment profile with the agency's details: choose Company, then add the agency's address, bank account and tax form (W-9, or W-8BEN-E outside the US)
Step 2: Link each additional creator
- The creator starts Later Pay setup from their campaign in Later Social
- They enter your agency's email address
- A verification code is sent to your agency's email
- Send the code to the creator within ~10 minutes
- After the creator enters the code, their campaign payments go to your agency's account
Things to know
- The creator has to start the link from their own Later Social account. You can't link creators from your side.
- You receive the full payment. Later pays your agency the full amount. Paying each creator their share is handled between you and the creator, outside Later.
- Tax forms belong to the account holder. Your agency's tax form covers payments to your account. Talk to your tax professional about how to report payments you pass on to creators.
- Moving a creator to their own account. If a creator leaves your agency, they can disconnect from your account and set up their own. See “I'm changing talent agencies” in the FAQ.
FAQ
Are there fees to get paid?
It depends on the payout method you choose. Later covers the fee for standard methods, such as direct deposit or local bank transfer. Faster or premium methods, such as wire, may carry a fee that comes out of your payment. You'll see the fee for each method during setup, before you choose.
Are there fees for currency conversion?
If your payout currency is different from the currency the brand pays in, yes. The amount is converted, and a conversion fee comes out of what you receive. Later doesn't cover conversion fees. You'll see them during setup. To avoid currency conversion fees, choose the same currency as the brand where you can.
Where can I see the fees that apply to me?
All fees are shown during Later Pay setup, when you choose your payout method and currency. Some fees are covered by Later and some aren't, so check before you confirm your choice.
I'm changing talent agencies. How do I change where I'm paid?
Disconnect your current Later Pay account, then set up a new one.
- In Later Social, open a campaign that has a Later Pay payment
- In the campaign's Incentives section, find the Later Pay card (“Payments for this campaign are sent to…”)
- Click Disconnect, then confirm
- Set up Later Pay again from a new campaign
- Enter your own details, or link to your new agency's account with their email address and verification code
Things to know:
- Only the owner of the Later Social account can disconnect.
- Disconnecting applies to all your active campaigns, not just one. You can't be paid for those campaigns until you set up Later Pay again.
- Completed campaigns and payments already sent aren't affected. If a payment already went to your old agency, settle it with them directly.
I was paid through Stripe before. Why do I need to set up again?
Later Pay collects your tax form and offers more payout options and currencies. That needs a one-time setup.
Can I still be paid to my bank account?
Yes. Direct deposit and local bank transfer are available in most countries.
The brand says they can't pay me.
Your setup probably isn't complete. Finish setting up Later Pay from the campaign in Later Social. If you've finished and still see a problem, email campaign.help@later.com.
My payment failed.
This usually means your payout details are wrong or out of date, for example a closed bank account or a PayPal account that isn't verified. Update your details, then ask the brand to send the payment again. Failed payments aren't resent automatically.
I see the name “Tipalti” in an email or form.
Tipalti is the payments partner that powers Later Pay. It's safe to complete but if you're unsure, contact campaign.help@later.com.
Does this change how I'm paid in the Later Creator app?
No. Later Creator payouts keep their usual schedule.
Who do I contact for help?
Email campaign.help@later.com with the campaign name and brand.
