Instagram Collaborator posts let you publish content with another Instagram account. When a collaborator accepts your invitation, the post appears on both profiles and engagement metrics are shared across the post.
This article explains how to invite collaborators to Instagram posts scheduled through Later, along with the current limitations of Instagram collaborator posts.
What to Know Before Inviting Collaborators
A few things to know before inviting collaborators:
- Supported content types: Collaborator invites are available on Instagram single-photo posts, Multi-Photo (carousel) posts, and Reels
- Maximum collaborators: Up to 3 collaborators per post
- Acceptance required: Collaborators must accept the invitation before the post appears on their profile
- Account availability: Only creator and business account profiles can be invited. Personal Instagram accounts can only be invited if the user has a public profile.
Inviting Collaborators to an Instagram Post
You can invite collaborators while creating or editing an Instagram post in Later.
- Create an Instagram post
- Add your media and caption
- Open the post options menu
- Select Invite Collaborator
- Search for and select the Instagram account you want to invite
- Repeat the process for additional collaborators, if needed
- Finish scheduling your post
When the post is published, the collaborator invitation is automatically sent via Instagram.
What Happens After Publishing?
After your post is published:
- The invited account receives a collaborator invitation in Instagram
- The collaborator appears as a tagged user until they accept the invitation
- Once accepted, the post appears on both profiles
- Engagement metrics are shared across the collaborative post
If a collaborator declines or ignores the invitation, the post remains published on the original account.
