My Instagram connection won't refresh
If you can’t refresh your Auto Publish connection for Instagram, or nothing happens when you try to refresh, it’s likely that something is off with the connection or permissions granted between Instagram, Facebook, and Later.
In this case, we recommend disconnecting Later from Instagram and then reconnecting them again from scratch, ensuring that all permissions are granted during the process.
For detailed instructions, see Reset Your Instagram Connection →
Once Instagram is fully disconnected from Later, re-connect it by following the steps in Enable Auto Publish > For Instagram →
I’m not seeing the pop-up to log in to Instagram or Facebook
If you’re not being prompted to log in to Instagram or Facebook when trying to connect, it’s most likely that your browser (or a browser extension) is blocking it.
To troubleshoot this, first enable pop-ups on your browser window, refresh the page, and then try again. Here are instructions on managing pop-up settings for popular browsers:
If it’s still not showing up after that, it could be a browser extension interfering with the pop-up. Try disabling any browser extensions while you attempt to connect your profile. You can re-enable them once you’re connected. Here are instructions on managing browser extensions for popular browsers:
If you’re still having trouble after that, try connecting from an Incognito or private browsing window. Here are instructions for opening private browsing windows on popular browsers:
The wrong Instagram or TikTok profile is being connected
If the incorrect TikTok or Instagram profile is being connected to Later, it’s usually because you’re already logged into that profile in your browser window and the connection module is picking up on that automatically.
To troubleshoot this, try connecting your profile from an Incognito or private browsing window. This will prompt you to log into the specific Instagram profile you’d like to connect.
Here are instructions for opening private browsing windows on popular browsers:
I’m having trouble connecting Instagram to a Facebook page
Due to requirements set by Meta, your Instagram profile must be connected to a Facebook Page in order to enable Auto Publish.
To connect Instagram to a Facebook Page, you must have all of the following:
- An Instagram business or creator profile (personal profiles aren’t supported for Auto Publish and can’t be connected to Facebook Pages). How to check your Instagram profile type →
- Your Instagram profile must be connected to a Facebook Page. How to check your connection status →
- You must have Facebook access with full control to the connected Facebook Page. How to check your Facebook Page role →
For further details on the connection process, see Connect Instagram to a Facebook Page which contains detailed instructions as well as troubleshooting steps for the most common issues we come across.
Once Facebook and Instagram are connected, reset your connection to Instagram in Later and try connecting Instagram again by following the steps in Enable Auto Publish > For Instagram, ensuring all permissions are granted during the process.
Later is missing permissions
When connecting Later to Instagram and TikTok, all permissions must be granted during the connection process.
If this hasn’t been done, you may experience the following:
- Posts failing to publish
- Social profile connections disconnecting
- A constant need to refresh your connection
- Missing analytics data
If you’re experiencing any of these issues, or think you might have disabled some permissions while connecting, here's how to fix it:
- For Instagram, first reset your connection and then try enabling Auto Publish again, ensuring all permissions are granted during the process
- For TikTok, see Something else is wrong (TikTok) below for steps to ensure the necessary permissions have been granted
I'm seeing ‘Username not available’ when trying to connect TikTok
If you're seeing an error message stating Username not available when trying to enable Auto Publish for TikTok, make sure you have at least one public TikTok video posted on the account you're trying to connect to, and then try connecting again. This is due to TikTok limitations.
Something else is wrong (Instagram)
If none of the solutions above are quite right, it’s likely that something is off with the connection or permissions granted between Instagram, Facebook, and Later.
Something else is wrong (TikTok)
