If you’re experiencing any of the above issues, it’s likely that some or all permissions that grant Later access to your profile information were missed during initial setup. These permissions are required for Later to be authorized to post on your behalf. This article outlines how to reset your Instagram connection, ensuring all necessary permissions are granted.
Check Your Connection Method
There are 2 ways to connect Instagram to Later: via Instagram or via Facebook. The method to reset your Instagram connection varies based on which method your Instagram connection uses.
If you’re not sure, you can check your connection method in Later as follows:
- From Later for desktop, navigate to Social Sets & Access Groups
- Select Edit next to the Social Set containing your Instagram profile
- Select Refresh next to your Instagram profile
After selecting Refresh, you’ll see a pop-up from either Instagram or Facebook, which indicates which connection method you’re using.
Connected via Instagram
Follow the steps below to reset your Instagram connection if you connected your Instagram to Later via Instagram:
Desktop
To reset your Instagram connection via desktop when connected through Instagram, you must remove Later as a connected app as follows:
- From instagram.com, select More > Settings
- Select Website permissions
- Select Apps and websites
- Select Remove next to the Later app, then select Remove again
Once Later has been removed from Instagram, your connection will be reset and you can re-connect it within Later, ensuring you grant all requested permissions.
iOS
- From Instagram’s iOS app, tap your profile picture from the bottom right
- Tap the menu icon ☰ from the top right
- Scroll down and tap App website permissions
- Tap Apps and websites
- Tap Remove next to the Later app, then tap Remove again
Once Later has been removed from Instagram, your connection will be reset and you can re-connect it within Later, ensuring you grant all requested permissions.
Android
- From Instagram’s Android app, tap your profile picture from the bottom right
- Tap the menu icon ☰ from the top right
- Scroll down and tap App website permissions
- Tap Apps and websites
- Tap Remove next to the Later app, then tap Remove again
Once Later has been removed from Instagram, your connection will be reset and you can re-connect it within Later, ensuring you grant all requested permissions.
Connected via Facebook
Follow the steps below to reset your Instagram connection if you connected your Instagram to Later via Facebook:
Desktop
To reset your Instagram connection on desktop when connected via Facebook, you must remove Later from Facebook and then refresh the connection in Later as follows:
- Log in to Facebook
- Click your profile picture in the top right > Settings and privacy > Settings (or click here to access this page directly)
Important: Ensure you're acting as your personal Facebook profile during this process, not your Page. - On the left side menu under Your activity, select Business integrations:
- Next to Later, select Remove:
- Select Remove again to confirm
- Don't tick the box to remove Later posts
- Open an Incognito or private browsing window and log in to your Later account
- Navigate to Settings > Social Sets & Access Groups
- Select Edit next to the Social Set containing your Instagram profile
- Next to your Instagram profile, select Refresh (or Enable):
- Log in to your Facebook profile via the pop-up window
- Select Edit access and ensure all permissions are enabled:
- Select Continue as [your name]
Your Instagram connection should now be reset with all permissions granted.
iOS
To reset your Instagram connection on iOS when connected via Facebook, you must remove Later from Facebook and then refresh the connection in Later as follows:
- In the iOS Facebook app, tap ☰ on the bottom right corner
- Scroll down and tap Settings
- Under Security, tap Business Integrations
- Select Later and tap Remove

Tap Remove again
- Don't tick the box to delete Later posts
- In the Later mobile app, go to Account > Auto Publish Settings
- Tap Enable or Refresh next to your Instagram business or creator profile
- Tap Log in to Facebook

Log in to your personal account that’s connected to your Instagram business or creator profile

- Tap Choose what you allow and make sure all permissions are enabled
- Tap OK
Android
To reset your Instagram connection on Android when connected via Facebook, you must remove Later from Facebook and then refresh the connection in Later as follows:
- In the Android Facebook app, tap ☰ on the bottom right corner
- Scroll down and tap Settings
- Under Security, tap Business Integrations
- Select Later and tap Remove

- Don't tick the box to delete Later posts
- In the Later mobile app, go to Account > Auto Publish Settings
- Tap Enable or Refresh next to your Instagram business or creator profile
- Tap Log in to Facebook
