    Find Your Best Times to Post for Instagram, Facebook & TikTok

    Later’s Best Time to Post (BTTP) takes the guesswork out of scheduling. We analyze your past post data, follower activity, and industry trends to recommend the times when your content is most likely to get engagement.

    You’ll see highlighted best times directly in your Calendar. Best Time to Post is auto-enabled if your profile is eligible. 

    Note: Users on Starter plans can select multiple profiles in the Calendar to unlock a 24-hour BTTP trial. Upgrade your plan to keep access once your trial ends. 

    How It Works

    Instagram

    Personalized recommendations based on:

    • Your post performance
    • Follower activity & demographics
    • Industry benchmarks

    Shows multiple recommended times throughout the week, and accuracy improves as more data becomes available.

    Note: Your Instagram profile must be a Business or Creator profile to pull insights.

    Facebook 

    BTTP recommendations for Facebook are based on the performance of your last 50 posts. If you don’t have enough posting history, Later will provide global recommended times until enough data is collected for personalized insights.

    There is no minimum follower/like requirements for Facebook Business Pages. 

    TikTok

    You'll receive one best posting time per day of the week for TikTok. If you don’t have enough posting history, Later will provide global recommended times until enough data is collected for personalized insights.

    Note: Your TikTok profile must be a Business account.

    Where You’ll See BTTP

    • Calendar → Highlighted colored boxes showing your recommended slots. When multiple profiles are selected, individual BTTP slots appear per platform, clearly labeled for Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

    Enable Best Time to Post

    BTTP is enabled automatically if your profile and plan are eligible.

    If you’ve previously turned it off, here’s how to re-enable it:

    Desktop (Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok)

    1. Go to your Calendar and select your profile(s)
    2. Click the gear icon to open Calendar settings
    3. Under Best Time to Post, click Generate Best Times to Post (first-time setup only)
    4. Toggle the feature on
    5. Refresh the Calendar — your best times will appear highlighted

    Mobile (Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok)

    1. Open the Later app and go to your Calendar
    2. Tap the settings gear
    3. Toggle Best Time to Post on
    Tip: Use Quick Schedule with your BTTP slots to automate posting at your best times.

    Remove Best Time to Post

    You can disable BTTP anytime from Calendar Settings:

    1. Open the Calendar.
    2. Select your profile.
    3. Toggle off Best Time to Post.

    Notes & Tips

    • It may take up to 1 hour to calculate BTTP after enabling or recalculating
    • If you don’t see BTTP, check that:
      • Your plan includes the feature
      • You’ve selected only one profile in your Calendar
      • Your Instagram profile is a Business or Creator account
    • Don’t have much posting history yet? You’ll see global fallback times until Later has enough data to personalize recommendations
    • The colored sections/boxes on your calendar represent Later’s Best Time to Post (BTTP) slots
    • Peak engagement windows vary across platforms, as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook audiences are active at different times. BTTP surfaces individual recommendations for each platform in a single scheduling flow.
