If you want to use Later’s notification publishing method, you’ll need to set up your mobile device to successfully receive notifications from Later.
This article walks you through how to connect your mobile device to your Later account, enable notifications, and send a test notification.
Important:
- Connecting a mobile device is only required for notification publishing, not Auto Publish
- To learn about the difference, see Auto Publish vs. Notification Publishing & How to Switch
- Facebook, Pinterest, Threads, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat don’t support notification publishing—they are always auto published
- You will only receive notifications from the Later account that you are currently logged in to on your mobile device
- It isn’t possible to receive mobile notifications from multiple Later accounts to the same device
Download the Later Mobile App
You can connect an iOS or Android device—or multiple—by downloading the Later app and logging in to your account:
- Download Later’s mobile app for your device type using the links below:
- Open the app and log in to your account
Important: When prompted, be sure to allow notifications from Later. This allows Later to send you notifications at your post’s scheduled time.
Alternatively, you can manually enable notifications by following the steps below. - From Later for desktop, verify your device is connected by going to Settings > Devices & Notifications (or click here)
- If connected successfully, you’ll see your device in the list under Manage Connected Devices
Enable Notifications from Later
Once you’ve installed the Later app on your device, you’ll need to ensure you’ve allowed notifications from Later. Without notifications enabled, Later won’t be able to send you a push notification at your post’s scheduled time.
If you’re not sure, follow the steps below to confirm.
iOS
Here are instructions to enable Later notifications on iOS devices:
- On your iOS device, open the Settings app
- Select Notifications > Later
- Ensure Allow Notifications is enabled:
Android
Settings on each Android device can look different—here are general instructions to enable Later notifications on Android devices:
- On your Android device, open the Settings app
- Go to the section titled something like Apps & notifications, Permissions, or Apps
- Select Later from the list of apps
- Select App notifications
- Ensure notifications for Later are allowed or enabled

Send a Test Notification
Once you’ve downloaded the Later app, logged in, and enabled notifications, you can confirm everything is set up correctly by sending yourself a test notification follows:
- From Later for desktop, go to Settings > Devices & Notifications (or click here)
- Select Send Test Notification next to your device:
If everything is set up correctly, you should receive a notification from Later that says Winter Is Coming on your device. If so, you’re all set!
Select Devices to Notify
If you have more than one device connected to your Later account, you can select which device(s) are notified for different profiles as follows:
- From Later for desktop, go to Settings > Social Sets & Access Groups (or click here)
- Select Edit next to the Access Group containing the social profile
- Select Edit next to the social profile
- Select Devices to Notify
- Toggle which connected devices to notify for this social profile:
- Your changes will be saved automatically
Remove a Device from Later
You can remove your mobile device from Later as follows:
- From Later for desktop, select Settings > Devices & Notifications (or click here)
- Scroll down to Manage Connected Devices
- Next to the device you’d like to remove, select Disconnect:
- Select OK to confirm
