    Using Post & Campaign Tagging to Organize and Report on Content

    Tags in Later let you track performance in a way that reflects how your content is planned: by campaign, product, or strategy.

    Instead of viewing results one post at a time, tags give you a flexible way to group posts and analyze them across channels, formats, and timeframes. You can tag drafts, pending approval, and other pre-publish post states, making tagging part of planning, not just reporting.

    Before you begin: 

    • Post Tags in Later are flexible labels you can apply to your content to track themes, formats, or products. They help you organize posts and measure performance beyond the individual post level.
    • Campaign Tags are designed for grouping content that belongs to a specific campaign.

    Why use Post Tags?

    Post Tags make it easier to:

    • Organize posts by campaign, product line, or strategy
    • Replace manual tracking with built-in workflows
    • Report on engagement by tag
    • Filter analytics dashboards and exports for clearer insights
    Note: Copied posts do not retain associated post or campaign tags.

    Post Tag Availability by Plan 

    • Starter: up to 20 post tags and 20 campaign tags. Tagging is only available in the Post Tagging tab. 
    • Growth: up to 50 post tags and 50 campaign tags. Tagging is available in the Post Builder and Post Tagging tab. 
    • Scale: unlimited post and campaign tags. Tagging is available in the Post Builder and Post Tagging tab. 
    Important: When downgrading from a higher-tier plan (e.g., Growth to Starter), you must remove any tags that exceed the lower plan’s limits before you can use the feature.

    How to add Post Tags

    1. From Later on desktop, select Post Tagging
    2. Select one or more posts (you’re able to apply tags in bulk)
    3. Click Add Tag
    4. Choose from the list or type to create a new tag
      • Note tags have to be at least 2 characters long
    5. Save your changes to apply
    Tip: Use post or campaign tags in Custom Analytics to filter content by product, format, or initiative — instead of relying on manual exports or naming conventions.

    How to add posts to Campaigns

    You can also assign posts to a specific campaign you’re running:

    1. Select one or more posts (you can apply tags in bulk)
    2. Click Add Campaign
    3. Choose from the list or type to create a new tag
      • Note tags have to be at least 2 characters long
    4. Save your changes to apply

    How Tags Work in Custom Analytics

    If you're on a Scale plan, you can use tags to filter and analyze content in Custom Analytics. 

    Once your content is tagged, Custom Analytics lets you:

    • Filter dashboards by tag to isolate campaign or product performance
    • Compare different strategies side by side
    • Report on ROI, ROAS, and engagement with cleaner data
    • Export dashboards with tag-based filters applied

    Tip: Filter by tags used to group posts under a specific campaign to see total performance across platforms and formats.

    FAQs

    How long does it take for my tagged posts to appear in the Post Tagging dashboard?

    If the post was created off-platform, it should appear within 12 hours. Posts scheduled through Later should appear right away.

    Can I see my tagged posts in the Analytics Dashboard?

    At this time, only Scale plan users can analyze their post and campaign tags directly through the Custom Analytics dashboard.
