Later’s Best Time to Post (BTTP) helps you take the guesswork out of scheduling. We analyze your past post data, follower activity, and industry trends to recommend the times when your content is most likely to get engagement.
You’ll see highlighted best times directly in your Calendar.
Availability
- Available on Starter, Growth, Scale
- Auto-enabled if your profile is eligible
- Best Time to Post is displayed on the weekly view of the Calendar
How It Works
Personalized recommendations based on:
- Your post performance
- Follower activity & demographics
- Industry benchmarks
Shows multiple recommended times throughout the week, and accuracy improves as more data becomes available.
TikTok
- Provides one best posting time per day of the week.
- If you don’t have enough posting history, Later will provide global recommended times until enough data is collected for personalized insights.
Notes: Your TikTok profile must be a Business account.

- Calendar → Highlighted colored boxes showing your recommended slots
Enable Best Time to Post
BTTP is enabled automatically if your profile and plan are eligible.
If you’ve previously turned it off, here’s how to re-enable it:
On Desktop (Instagram or TikTok)
- Go to your Calendar and select a single profile.
- Click the gear icon (Calendar Settings).
- Under Best Time to Post, click Generate Best Times to Post (first-time setup only).
- Toggle the feature on.
- Refresh the Calendar — your best times will appear highlighted.
On Mobile (Instagram only)
- Open the Later app and go to your Calendar.
- Tap the settings gear.
- Toggle Best Time to Post on.
Remove Best Time to Post
You can disable BTTP anytime from Calendar Settings:
- Open the Calendar.
- Select your profile.
- Toggle off Best Time to Post.
Notes & Tips
- It may take up to 1 hour to calculate BTTP after enabling or recalculating.
- If you don’t see BTTP, check that:
- Your plan includes the feature.
- You’ve selected only one profile in your Calendar.
- Your Instagram profile is a Business or Creator account.
- Don’t have much posting history yet? You’ll see global fallback times until Later has enough data to personalize recommendations.
