Troubleshooting Failed Payments
Below is a list of the most common reasons for payments fail and how to fix them. We suggest going through each reason (starting from the top) to try to resolve the issue. If none of these solutions work, please contact your bank.
Insufficient Access to Funds
Sometimes a recent payment or withdrawal will put an account over the available funds limit, or for funds available that day.
Solution:
Check your account to ensure you have enough funds, and that you haven't passed your daily spending limit. Try again when you have access to the needed funds.
If you’re using a card issued to you by a business, you may want to check with your financial team on the limits of your card.
Credit Card Security Features
Credit cards come with a lot of built in security features. Some of these features
(such as 3DSecure) are mandatory for banks in certain regions (like Europe and Australia).
Features like this often rely on a pop-up window that allows the bank to complete a verification check with you before approving the charge. If this pop-up is blocked by your browser, you won’t be able to complete your payment.
Solution:
Ensure your browser is allowing pop-ups. In most browsers, you’ll see a ‘blocked window’ icon appear in the URL bar when a pop-up is blocked. Clicking that icon will allow you to open it.
As other browser issues may also occur, we also suggest:
- Trying in an incognito/private browser window
- Trying on a different browser, device or network
Foreign Transaction Blocks
In some cases, your bank may block a transaction coming from a foreign company as a security measure.
Note: Later is a Canadian company.
Solution:
Contact your bank.
Only your bank can release that security block, allowing you to make the payment. Ensure your bank allows payments from Later regularly so your next monthly/yearly payment doesn’t get blocked again.
