This FAQ explains the changes to Later’s pricing structure that took place on Aug 5th 2020. The information here is for those who signed up before Aug 5th 2020 and have not yet switched to a current plan.
If you don't find the answer to your question here, contact us and we’ll help you out.
Why are you making these changes?
Over the past 6 years, Later has grown and expanded. We made lots of improvements and added quite a few features with minimal changes to our pricing.
As such, we’ve re-evaluated how our plans are structured to better reflect the value of Later, and how businesses grow on social media.
How will I be affected?
If you want to stay on the same plan, changes to your account won’t take effect until 2022. In 2022, we’ll automatically move you to the new plan that best aligns with your current plan. If you want to choose a new plan yourself, we recommend you switch plans now.
What’s changing?
Social Sets
The new pricing is structured around Social Sets. A Social Set is a collection of profiles that includes 1 Instagram, 1 Facebook, 1 Twitter, 1 Pinterest, 1 TikTok, 1 LinkedIn profile (and a profile for any social networks we add in the future). Social Sets help you organize your social profiles based on brand or identity. You can view your Social Sets in your Social Sets & Access Groups page.
Add-ons
Under the new pricing structure, you’ll be able to add additional Social Sets and users to our Growth and Advanced plans. Additional sets are $15/month each and additional users are $5/month each.
Plans
Later has released brand new plans that take advantage of this new pricing structure. You can view the new plans here.
What's the difference between the new plans?
In the new pricing structure, the plans are designed to support your social needs as your business grows.
You can view the new plans or compare legacy plans and new plans.
When will these changes happen?
On August 5, 2020, we rolled out the new pricing structure. If you’re on a legacy plan, you can stay on it until 2022.
In 2022, all legacy plans will be automatically moved over to one of our new plans. You can also move to a new plan yourself before then.
What is a legacy plan?
Any Later users that signed up before August 5, 2020, are considered to be on legacy plans. This means you’re on our old pricing structure. When you move to a new plan you’ll no longer be on a legacy plan and can’t go back to a legacy plan. In 2022, all legacy plans will be automatically moved over to our new plans.
How do I switch to a new plan?
If you want to switch to a new plan yourself, here’s how to do it:
- Go to our pricing page and select the plan that best meets your needs
- On the checkout page, add extra Social Sets and users if needed
- Review your plan details
- Click Update Plan
How do I add more Social Sets or users?
If you’re on a legacy plan, you can continue to add more Social Sets and users if you haven’t reached the limit on your legacy plan. To see how many Social Sets and users are included in your legacy plan, go to your Subscription page.
To add more Social Sets or social profiles, go to Social Sets & Access Groups. To add more users, go to Users.
If you’ve reached the limit for social profiles or users and want to add more, please switch to our new Growth or Advanced plan on our new pricing structure.
What if I need more Social Sets or users?
If you're on a legacy plan, and want to add more Social Sets or users to your plan, you’ll need to switch to our new Growth or Advanced plan on our new pricing structure.
When you switch to a new plan, we’ll credit you for unused time on your legacy plan and apply it toward the payment for your new plan. Once you switch to a new plan, you can’t go back to your legacy plan.
What if I want to access new features?
If you want to access features that aren’t included in your legacy plan, you’ll have to switch to a new plan on our new pricing structure.
When you switch to a new plan, we’ll credit you for unused time on your legacy plan and apply it toward the payment for your new plan. Once you switch to a new plan, you can’t go back to your legacy plan.
What if I want to change my billing cycle?
Monthly to yearly billing
If you want to change from monthly to yearly billing, you’ll need to switch to a new plan on our new pricing structure. Go to our pricing page, select a new plan that works for you, and select yearly billing at checkout.
When you switch to a new plan, we’ll credit you for unused time on your legacy plan and apply it toward the payment for your new plan. You’ll move to your new plan right away, but your new yearly billing cycle will start at the end of your current monthly billing cycle.
Yearly to monthly billing
If you want to switch from yearly to monthly billing, you’ll only be able to do so if your yearly billing cycle is ending in the next 2 months. For example, if it’s currently April 1 and your yearly billing cycle ends on May 1, you’ll be able to switch to monthly billing when you move to a new plan.
Go to our pricing page, select a new plan that works for you, and select monthly billing at checkout. If you don’t see monthly billing at checkout, that means your yearly billing cycle isn’t ending in the next 2 months, and you’ll only be able to select yearly billing.
When you switch to a new plan, we’ll credit you for unused time on your legacy plan and apply it toward the payment for your new plan. You’ll move to your new plan right away, but your new monthly billing cycle will start at the end of your current yearly billing cycle.
What if I’m on a custom plan?
If you need to change your custom plan, please contact us. We’ll discuss the best options with you and guide you through the process.
Will I be automatically moved to new Later plans?
In 2022, all customers on legacy plans will be automatically moved to new plans. When moving you over, we’ll choose the new plan that best aligns with your legacy plan.
If you’d like to choose your own new plan, you can move to a new plan yourself before 2022. Head to our pricing page to see all our plans, or compare your legacy plan with our new plans to find the best one that meets your needs.
Are changes being made to free accounts?
Yes, in 2021 legacy free plans were moved over to the new Free plan. The new Free plan doesn’t include our Search by Hashtag feature, but now includes video scheduling and TikTok scheduling.
If you want to use Search by Hashtag, you’ll need to upgrade to a new eligible paid plan.
Can I go back to my old plan after I change?
No, once you move to the new pricing structure you won’t be able to switch back to a legacy plan. In 2022, all legacy plans will be automatically moved over to our new plans. We recommend switching to a new plan before then so you can choose the best plan for your needs.
When will my plan change?
If you’re on a legacy plan, you’ll be automatically moved to a new plan in 2022. We’ll be in touch before this happens. On a new plan, you’ll get access to some new features.
If you have any questions, please contact us and we'll be happy to help.
