This article covers how you can set up your Later account to support multiple clients (such as brands and creators) as a social media agency or talent manager.
By inviting clients as users and setting up separate Access Groups for each one, you can support multiple clients from a single Later account, while only allowing each client to access their own data and content. As the account owner, you’ll have access to all of the Access Groups associated with your account.
Invite Each Client as a User
First, you’ll need to invite each client to your Later account as a user as follows:
- From Later for desktop, select Settings > Users (or click here)
- Select Invite User
- Enter the user’s name and email address
- The email address can’t already be in use by an existing Later account
- Select Send Invite
- This will email them an invitation to your account
To learn more, see Add & Remove Users from Later.
In the following steps, we’ll set each user’s permissions using Access Groups so they’ll only have access to their own social profiles and media.
Set up an Access Group for Each Client
Next, create a separate Access Group for each client. Once the client has accepted their invitation to your account, you’ll be able to grant them access to their Access Group.
Each Access Group has its own Media Library and connected social profiles, and only members of that Access Group can access them.
Create Access Groups
You can create a new Access Group in your account as follows:
- From Later for desktop, select Settings > Social Sets & Access Groups (or click here)
- Select Create New Access Group
- Give the Access Group a name
- This will be visible to the users invited to it
- Select Create Access Group
- Repeat for each client you’d like to create an Access Group for
Adjust Access Group Permissions
Once the Access Groups have been created, you can add client(s) to them as follows:
- From Later for desktop, select Settings > Social Sets & Access Groups (or click here)
- Next to the Access Group you’d like to add the user to, select Edit
- Select the Users tab
- Select Add User
- Select + Add next to the user you want to add
- If you don’t see the user listed here, confirm they’ve accepted their invitation to your Later account
At this stage, you can also remove this client from your default Access Group if you don’t want them to have access to it (since newly-added users will have access to it by default):
- From Later for desktop, select Settings > Social Sets & Access Groups (or click here)
- Next to your default Access Group, select Edit
- By default, your default Access Group group will be called Main Group
- If you’ve changed the name, it’ll be whichever Access Group was created earliest in your account
- Select the Users tab
- Select Remove next to the user you’d like to remove
- Select Remove again to confirm
To learn more, see Create & Manage Access Groups.
Add Social Profiles to Each Access Group
Once you’ve set up an Access Group for each client, you can add their social profiles as follows:
- From Later for desktop, select Settings > Social Sets & Access Groups (or click here)
- Next to the Access Group you’d like to add the social profile to, select Edit
- Select Add Social Profile
- Select an empty social profile slot
- Each Social Set can contain one of each profile type, but Access Groups can contain multiple Social Sets. Learn more about Social Sets
- Select Add Social Profile
Important: At this stage, confirm you’re not already logged in to a different profile on the social platform that you’re trying to connect. If you are, Later will try to connect to that account automatically. Alternatively, attempt the connection from an Incognito/private browsing window—this ensures you’ll be prompted to log in to the profile you want to add. - Follow the prompts to authenticate that profile with Later
- If you’re not seeing the pop-up from the social platform to authenticate, disable any pop-up blockers or browser extensions that might be blocking it (or, try from an Incognito/private browsing window)
